Abandoned, mistreated,
a girl from the streets.
Thirty minutes left,
rescued just in time.
Wild ears,
a gimpy leg,
and sloppy kisses.
It was supposed to be temporary,
but you melted our hearts.
We couldn’t let you go.
Who would’ve guessed?
A chihuahua, family?
Frida Dahgo was here to stay.
A pint-sized life
built for loving,
always underfoot,
never a lap she didn’t adore.
Burrowed deep beneath the blankets.
Big, bug eyes brimming with love.
Stinky breath, nervous shakes,
a little chihuahua queen
who’d “play dead” when we left,
then bounce with joy when we returned.

So many unwanted kisses.
So, so many.
Snorty snuggles I’ll miss forever.
Thirty minutes,
turned into eight sweet years.
You brought laughter.
You brought joy.
You brought silly girl love.
We’ll miss you, sweet Frida.
Until we meet again,
I know you’ll be waiting, tail wagging,
right at the pearly gates.

Oh Amy, this is perfect. Sweet sweet loving little old lady. She brought chihuahua love into our lives.
